Question : Problem: Problems setting up softwarew with a quantum autoloader
Hello all, I have a Windows 2003 Server and a Quantum Autoloader connected to it. I have installed the Symantec Backup Exec version 10. If I open Backup Exec and look under "Devices", under my server name I see "Robotic Libraries", under that "Quantum 1". If I click on "Quantum 1" to the right I see all the slots and tapes labeled "unknown media" in the slots that have tapes. If I right click on "Quantum 1" it shows enabled. When I create a job and tell it to back up to the device "Quantum 1" I get an error on the Job Monitor tab stating "Ready, No Idle Devices are available". How to I setup this to backup? My goal is to have 5 tapes in the autoloader, and 5 jobs (mon, tues, wed, thurs, fri). each job backs up to 1 tape. Then on mondays I swap out all 5 tapes. Can anyone help me? I would really apprecieate it.

Not sure what the Base System Device is.
Do you now see a tape drive under QUANTUM 1 in the "Devices" tab in Backup Exec? You may have to restart the Backup Exec services to make Backup Exec detect the tape drive.
