Question : Problem: Norton Ghost Automation Backup: Stop services first before doing backup

Hi,

We would like to automate backing up of files using norton but some of the files are being used by a service or a server because we are currently using the computer as a server and we need the server files to be backed up but the services needs to be stopped first before doing the backup. What we would like to ask if there is a way for Norton Ghost to stop the services first before doing the backup so we do not need to stop the services manually. Is this possible? If it is, can anyone give the instruction on how to do it? we want to automate backup from stopping the service for the server and then backing up the files and start the service again.

Thanks.

You need to check the command line options for Ghost32.exe

I know that the DOS version can simply be run from a batch file, but I have not tried this with ghost32.exe

I just ran

ghost32.exe and it has the usualt batch options, so all you need to do is run it from a batch file per the Ghost docs and examples.

I hope this helps !
