Question : Problem: Cold cathode Vu meter

I got these cold cathode lights from  http://www.xoxide.com/coldcathodes.html   and a sound activator http://www.xoxide.com/cocasoackit.html.      

It has the feature of blinking to sound.  the whole light lights up, its what I wanted but not actually.  this is what I like it to do  http://youtube.com/watch?v=U4gBWAnF24k .   I like that VU meter effect.  

I was wondering is there a kit out there that will let me hook up my cathode lights up to it and do that meter effect?  i would build one myself but I dont know a lot about electronic circuits>
