Question : Problem: itunes and quicktimw will not install, another istallation in progress

I am runnig a new sony vaio laptop, had a few problems, had to recover vista once, whic put it back to a restore point. I downloaded itunes and now tried to run. The error message keeps popping up saying "another installation is in progress"
When I try to remove itunes, it is not in the list of programs. I have tried to remove quicktime but it comes up with the same message.
Please help!

im sure that you have already tried restarting the machine and deleting the temp files :)
try using the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to remove the entries for quicktime and iTunes
