Question : Problem: NIC Card not recognized on bootup

My onbaord lan stopped working, so I disable it, and installed a Netgear FAV311v2.  In the bootup screen all the PCI devices IRQ's are listed, but not the NIC, no matter what slot I put it in, and trying to force IRQ's from the BIOS.

I get the code 10 setting when I load the driver in XP,  but if it's not recognized on bootup, XP can't fix that.

I'm beggining to think it's a motherboard issue, as I've read similar problems from others with the NEO2, 865pe chipset. Hate to try another MB, but may have no choice.

Answer : Problem: NIC Card not recognized on bootup

This seems to be a problem with MSI motherboards. Chances are you'll need to install the chipset drivers. I believe there is a Realtek driver for the mobo that is needed in order for the NIC to work properly.

See this PAQ for the solution to an almost identical problem.
