Question : Problem: Icons and taskbar disappear off of desktop
|
|
I have an Intel DG965RY motherboard with 4GB of RAM, an Intel Core 2 Duoe E6600 2.4 GHz processor, A WDC 160 SATA 300 HD, MSI NX8500GT VGA card, with a ViewSonic VA1912wb monitor. When I let the system sit long enough for the screen saver to come on, when I press a key to reactivate the system, all I can see is the desktop picture, with no icons and no taskbar. I can reboot the system and restart working. To date, I have not lost any data, but I do not leave unsaved tasks when I leave the computer. I cannot find any evidence of viruses, malware, etc. This has been present since I built the computer. Any ideas as to how to correct this problem of no longer seeing the icons and task bar on the desktop?

When this happens hit CTRL+SHIFT+ESC, does the Task Manager come up? If so, go to File>New, Explorer.exe..
Does it all appear?
And might consider uninstalling the Video Driver, from the Device Manager, and reboot. Stop the Wizard from reinstalling it on boot, and install the latest drivers from the MFGR....
