Question : Problem: cannot connect centrino and Speedtouch 570
|
|
Can anyone please tell me how I can connect a centrino notebook to a Thomson speedtouch 570?
I bought the Modem from my Dutch ADSL provider (KPN). They pre-configured the thing in such a way that it only works with a Speedtouch 110 Wireless PC-card. Now what I want is to configure it to work with my Centrino notebook.
Does anybody know how I can configure the modem, in such a way that it stays encrypted?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Daan

What exactly is the problem? Can you detect the speedtouch from the centrino? Do you just need to know the wep password? note that the password is usually printed on the bottom of the speedtouch. You can reconfigure the password via the web interface. For this you need to connect to the speedtouch with an ethernet cable or with an authorized wifi client (e.g. the speedtouch 110 card) and access its configuration pages.
If you know the wep password or there is no encryption and can get your centrino associated(connected) to the speedtouch but then can't access the net, then it's probably because of MAC address filtering. In this case, to enable your centrino MAC address you just need to press the red button on the back of the speedtouch (do this while the centrino is associated with the speedtouch).
You can find the configuration manual of the speedtouch here: http://www.speedtouch.com/pdf/st545-570_manual.pdf
