Question : Problem: How to fix a broken hard drive?

Hi...My laptop sata hard all of a sudden died on me and I have my work data on there. I took out the sata hard drive and hooked up it to a desktop but it doesnt come show up in "my computer" or" computer management".  Is there any way to fix this myself? Any expert advice would be appreciated..Thanks much

is it "seen" in the bios ? check the sata settings in the bios too   if Y:
