Question : Problem: How do succeed with installation?

I bought a DeLorme GPS and I need to install software for it, but keep getting these errors.  Says I need to install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, and cannot find the file vcredist.msi.  (says it's a "network resource" and not availble).  I downloaded the vcredist_x86.exe from Microsoft and got the same error preventing me from installing that one.  I contacted DeLorme technical support and this is what they said:
 
"Thank you for contacting Delorme Technical Support. Unfortunately looking online a lot of applications can have this issue installing as it appears to be an issue with your operating system. I would recommend installing all available updates from Microsoft for your operating system before trying again. Also make sure to scan your PC for any virus/spyware..."

I have a Compaq laptop computer and am using Microsoft XP Pro operating system.  We have a terminal server at work, although I use this laptop as a standalone machine also.
