Here is something you can check. We had a problem with an office multifunction copier in our network and discovered that the copier was not negotiating duplex settings correctly causing some intermittent Ethernet frame issues. Believe it or not, we had some machines that could print successfully and some that had problems and would get their print jobs stuck in queue. Believe it was due to some lost frames. Pings work, IP connectivity from switch, etc. OK but some workstations worked, while others had issues.
Setup 100MB Full Duplex fixed settings on all equipment (Ethernet switch and on Multifunction Copier) until we determined that no lost frames were occurring. Voila all machines are now printing successfully. Checked settings on a variety of other equipment as well after that to ensure this was not occurring on any other equipment, printers, appliances, or servers.
