Question : Problem: How do I Configure Real VNC Server Connections to block access?

I see the feature to Add a connection so that I can ensure that all others can be blocked.  And it expects an IP address.

How do I find the IP address of my client computer to add?  Here's what I get from IPConfig:


 IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.100
 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

Then when I look into my Linksys setup page accessible via my browser using 192.168.1.1 I don't really see anything there which looks like an IP address that's accessible from the outside.

Can somebody please advise me on how I can find this IP address?

Real VNC is looking for this format: 192.168.0.0/255.255.0.0

First you need to find out your public ip address.
If you have cable, your ip should not change, use dyndns for ease of remembering the name.
If you have DSL your ip will be dynamic and change often, so use dyndns

I suggest use DYNDNS for the client pc if your router does not have it, and then on your router set up port fowarding 5900 to 192.168.x.x

Create a free account at dyndns first.
Then setup a hostname.

Port foward the vnc app to your LAN ip then.
