Question : Problem: iPhone causing event ID 529 for IMAP
|
|
I am trying to setup an iPhone for a client and when I try to verify the account on the phone, I get the following in the event logs:
Logon Failure: Reason: Unknown user name or bad password User Name: domain\bob Domain: Logon Type: 3 Logon Process: NtLmSsp Authentication Package: NTLM Workstation Name: XXXX iPhone Caller User Name: - Caller Domain: - Caller Logon ID: - Caller Process ID: - Transited Services: - Source Network Address: - Source Port: -
with an event ID of 529. I have IMAP open on the firewall and am able to telnet to it, so I think the authentication issue is the last thing holding me back. I have tried all the following variations of the user name: domain/username [email protected] username domain/John Doe/alias
I have also logged in as the user through OWA to verify that the name and password are correct. Any help is appretiated.

Apparently the Exchange Alias plays a roll. The user had an alias that differed from his login name. After I changed the alias to match the login it worked.
