Question : Problem: Microsoft Vista + Sony Vaio VGN-FZ240E_suddenly no sound, though control panel shows OK
My sound just stopped working, both with external speakers, and when the external speakers were unplugged. Control panel shows sound is working. When I play music, the bars indicate sound. But no sound. The computer searched online for an updated driver but said I have the most current driver.
Any ideas? I'm not a beginner--I'm a rank amateur. Thanks!

Got it--I had somehow muted the Vaio from the external keyboard I use with it! Thanks for the suggestion.
