Question : Problem: Canon DR5020 SCSI scanner will not install

Hi. I've got a Canon DR5020 SCSI scanner, which is attached to a workstation running Win XP Pro via an Adaptec 29320ALP SCSI card. The problem is the scanner is picked up by Windows, which then asks for a driver. I have installed the driver downloaded from Canons website, this apears to install but when the machine is rebooted it pops up with Found New Hardware and wants an .inf file.  Canons driver does not appear to include a .inf file, and so it will not install.

I have tried the following:
1. Checked SCSI cards drivers are latest version
2. Run ASPICHK.EXE to confirm that latest ASPI is installed and working correctly - 4.70 is installed and working OK (have reinstalled to make sure)
3. Attached an old Compaq tape drive to the SCSI cable to ensure not a faulty card, this installed without issue
4. Tried installing SCSI card and scanner on a different PC - got same result
5. Pressed Ctl-A at the PC's POST to go into the SCSI setup. This sees the scanner on ID 2, as it should.
6. Tried installing drivers for a slightly different model of scanner hoping it might work (like HP LaserJet printer do). No luck, it didn't work :)
7. Gone into Device Mgr, selected View and shown Hidden Devices. Uninstalled anything that was no longer used (only a keyboad was listed)
8. Tried putting a SCSI terminator on the scanner (wasn't one on there already)

According to the users, the scanner "used to work but hasn't been used for a while". I don't think the scanner is that old.

Before I tell them that it won't install and can no longer be used, can anyone think of anything else I can try? Thanks.
