Question : Problem: DELL Disk Drive Replacement Instructions

I was able to open my disk drive on my DELL Windows XP Home Edition with a paper clip and the drive works but, when I push the button to open it still does not work. Need to use paper clip ever time to make it work. At least I can access it.... I would appreciate how I can replace the disk drive WITHOUT paying through the nose to a DELL dealer or other computer repair service. Any tips... Dave

If it's a desktop PC, it is very easy to replace a CD Drive. You just remove it and replace it with a new drive. If it's a laptop, it depends on the model, some Dell laptops use an easy to remove drive bay, others require you to open the laptop's case to get be able to replace it.
