Question : Problem: DEll XPS 600
I have a XPS 600 that a solid amber power light. The computer supply power to the fans for about five seconds then shuts down. I have gone to the Dell support page and done everthing that was recommended. I have reseed all of the memory modules and all of the PCI cards as well. I have reset the CMOS via taking the CMOS battery out for a couple of minutes and placing it back in. At this point I am think that the power supply might be bad or it could be the motherboard.
Answer : Problem: DEll XPS 600
Either bad power supply or bad caps on motherboard.
(Or both. Either one tends to cause the other problem too.)
