Question : Problem: Smart UPS 1500 - adding a device
I have a Smart UPS 1500 with 1 file server running Windows 2003R2 and 1 Xp Pro Workstation. I can see and manage my file server just fine but I cannot add the XP Machine to the device list. When I try by either machine name and or IP address I receive a message "Failed to add 192.168.1.15". That's it.
I must be missing something here. My server is running PowerChute Business Edition 7.0.4, build 114
and is connected via USB. The only link between my XP machine and the UPS is the power cable itself. I would have assumed I could find the box on the network and add it to the list. Do I need a cable or agent or something?
I have the same problem with a Smart UPS 1000 with two Windows 2003 R2 servers - I can only see the one that has the direct USB aconnection.
Guidance in resolving this would be great.
Answer : Problem: Smart UPS 1500 - adding a device
They are no HP UPS, they are APC Smart UPS (1000 and 1500 respectively). We have since decided to give each server a dedicated UPS so I don't need to worry. Thanks though for your great suggestions.
