Question : Problem: Network Connections Have Vanished
Hi, I have been running a Vista 32 Ultimate PC built round an ABIT IN9 32X-Max motherboard for several months. The other day I booted up my PC and found my internet connection was not working. On closer investigation I've found that it is not a problem with my router - other PCs both wired and wireless are working fine. I've checked under both Device manager and Network Connections and both the Ethernet ports are missing. On the back of the PC, both ports are lit up (small yellow LED) I have tried restoring the Pc to a recovery point a few weeks back with no effect. In desperation - I've backed up my Pc and completely reinstalled Windows, again with no effect. Both ports show as Enabled under the BIOS Can the ethernet ports on a motherboard fail with everything else working perfectly? Any suggestions gratefully received.

That would be my guess. If a reinstall did not solve the problem i would think the ports went bad. You might try and download the latest nic drivers and try and re-install them and see if that solves the issue. You could also try disabling the nic's in the bios, rebooting and then re-enabling them.
