Question : Problem: SpeedEasy motherboard will not run Celeron 300

I just recieved a SpeedEasy motherboard P61440LX/ATX legend 1 from a friend which was working satisfactory when a Pentium II 300MHz processor was installed. But after installing a Celeron 300MHZ processor the system begins to boot then hangs diplaying the CPU speed at 225MHZ. This is a jumperless board with auto CPU detection.
