Question : Problem: Overheating IBM Thinkpad T42... changed out fan and put on new thermal paste
Have a client who has a IBM Thinkpad T42... they themselves (a lawyer so he has some smarts) changed out the fan and put on new thermal paste on the CPU because the laptop would frequently shut off due to thermal heating. These fixes did not help. I have not seen the laptop yet but am curious if he may have a faulty CPU temp sensor? Any ideas?
Answer : Problem: Overheating IBM Thinkpad T42... changed out fan and put on new thermal paste
Some answers to find out is: Is it clocked correctly? Does it have the latest BIOS power management or is it working on an older version which may be inefficient? Also, did he clean out all the dust and particles may hurt the dissipation of heat?
