Question : Problem: Power Failure during Installation of OS
I have an Intel Motherboard, D875PBZ. I was installing Windows XP SP2. Just after the partition was completed, while the installation program was "Copying Files" a complete power failure occurred. I restarted the installation CD. When it gets to the "Windows Setup," I get a message that "Windows cannot detect a hard drive, that I should use manufacturer's diagnostic and set up tools." In the BIOS the hard drive still appears. What do I do? John

Its more likely just a corrupted master boot record on the drive caused by the crash and installation. Not sure why you need to use teh F6 key though on windows xp sp2 Unless you have your bios set to use raid. You usually should not have a problem installing on either a ata or sata drive If you are not using raid disable it in the bios before you do a OS install this should releive you of the problem trying to install a driver during the OS install. You can always once the OS is installed install the driver at that time then enable the raid via a boot up process. Unless you get some major errors from the diagnostic tools from the mfg test utilites doing a low level format is not a recomended thing to do depending on the size of teh drive it could be extreamly long and as it goes on for horus it actually will heat your drive up and platterswhich at the same time could corrupt exactly what you are doing. Low level formats are really designed to be done at the mfg site or a site that as the ability to do it in a proper time frame. Letting a drive run for hours on end is not good. Think of your old record you use to have when they got hot they got plyable and expanded insize The same thing actually happens to the platters in a HD
