Question : Problem: Yahoo calendar to pda

I just bought a Palm Treo 700 wx with ActiveSync 4.2   How do I get my my yahoo address book, calendar, and inbox into my PDA.  I don't know how to get from A to C.

It looks like I can export my yahoo stuff to Outlook.   Do I need to go through outlook to get my yahoo data to the pda??  Can I get my yahoo stuff into the pda without Outlook?  What do most people do?  

What's the downside of using Outlook?  Does it then become my default email application, in place of yahoo?  I mean, are there more settings to keep track of?

Where can I read the basics?  Is there an Introduction to Smartphones book?
