Question : Problem: Veritas Backup Exec 9.0 reports failed
|
|
I'm running Veritas Backup Exec 9.0 on a Windows 2003 Standard edition Server with SP2. This server also runs MS Exchange 2003 with SP2. All patches for the OS and Exchange are up to date.
With every backup, I get that the backup failed with this error:
OFO: Snapshot error (0xfffffec9): A failure occurred accessing the Writer metadata.
I've already worked through http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940349 and the few tech articles Veritas has on their site (http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/264350.htm and https://forums.symantec.com/syment/board/message?board.id=101&message.id=47345) to no effect. I've gone as far as re-installed Windows 2003 SP2 and that hasn't made a difference either.
I've tried running Veritas updates from the Backup exec console, but all I get is a blank window.
Where should I go from here?
Thanks!

Also SP2 for Windows and Exchagne are both not supported by BE 9.1. So they are certainly not supported by 9.0. That may be part of the problem. Also make sure you're not running the R2 version of Windows 2003.
If you're backing up Exchange, I suggest you put the backup of Exchange into a separate job. In that job you should not select AOFO. See if that makes a difference.
Otherwise post exactly what resource is being backed up when you get the error.
