Question : Problem: Com port stops working when computer shuts Down.

Ok, the comport com 1 is attached to the mother board (lagacy)when you shut off the computer it stops working .
It is attached to a printer. I took two good drivers and replaced the old ones with them.
If you uninstall the drivers in device manager then reboot, it works again.
when you turn off the computer and it is rebooted it doesn't reload normally. So I uninstall them and reboot and they are good to go untill some one on the job turns off the computer and reboots it. Iam checking into now. any help would be great TNX

Hmmm... I have MoH installed on my Dells and COM1 (9-pin port) works fine.  Modem is COM3; Ir port is COM2.

Have you loaded the chipset drivers since the last install of XP Pro, bobnijip?
If you go to
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd
and enter either the Service Tag or select the proper model from the picklists you can get the latest versions if you can't find the Drivers and Utilities CD.
