Question : Problem: Mixed Sata drives

What is the effect of mixing two sata drives on the new motherboards e.g. Asus  P5B? For example a WD Raptor (1.5gig transfer) for the OS and a Seagate Barrucuda .10 (3.0 gig transfer) . Does each drive work at its own  best trasnfer rate?  Do I need to use the red sata port for the Raptor and the black port for the Seagate?

OS = XP sp2 pro or

Vista Ultimate

Answer : Problem: Mixed Sata drives

Yes, indeed. Based on specs, your motherboard supports SATA 3G:

I dont think you mix SATA and SATA 2 in same channel that makes different.
