Question : Problem: Graphics card not showing up

I have an HP desktop with NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS running Windows Vista Ultimate 64.
I downloaded a more recent driver for the Nvidia, and when installing it apparently the installation didn't work and instead Windows Device Manager now shows that I have a Standard VGA Graphics Adapter.
I tried installing this driver more than a couple of time, I tried scanning for new hardware, uninstalling the Standard VGA driver but nothing worked. (Calling HP resulted in nothing more than frustration and a 2.5 hours lost!)
How can I fix this?

You shouldn't remove it, only install the driver, or go to device manager and update the standard vga into Nvidia

I thing the only solution is to reinstall windows.
