Question : Problem: Overclocking Intel i7 920 could not load OS

Hi,

I've upgraded my pc's major components and tried to overclock it a bit but is having problems when booting to Windows XP. Below are the Overclock settings...
BCLK Frequency            200
DRAM Frquency            1066-1600MHz (Auto)
CPU Vcore                    1.35 Volts
QPI/Vtt Voltage            1.34 Volts
CPU PLL                          1.96 Volts
DRAM Voltage                    1.66 Volts

and my specs are...
Intel Core i7 920
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5
Corsair TR3X3G1333C9 3GB (3x1GB) DDR3
Gigabyte ATI HD4870X2
Antec 850W TPQ
Samsung HD501LJ
Windows XP Pro

Has anyone did an overclocking using same specs as mine? Any suggestions on addressing the problem is highly appreciated.

Answer : Problem: Overclocking Intel i7 920 could not load OS

When overclocking your system it can become unstable where windows will not boot. You need to lower your overclocked settings and try to boot again. I had this exact same issue before on one of my machines. You just have to find the right balance between stability and performance.

Remember to only take small steps when overclocking and keep notes of what works or does not because it will save you a lot of time.

Good luck.
