Question : Problem: compute watts to Kva

Hi,

How can we compute watts to Kva? We currently have 50 computers and each is using 150watts with rush current included. I wanted to know the load in Kva to determine the UPS size we need.

sample:
7500 watts, how many Kva will this be?

Thanks

Answer : Problem: compute watts to Kva

you would need the power factor (efficiency %) for the PC's to calculate this, as the resistive load in the components reduce the efficiency and release it as heat. A general rule of thumb is a 60% PF (power factor) when doing the calculation.
KVA=W/(1000 x PF)
KVA= 7500/(1000 x .6)
KVA= 7500/600
KVA=12.5
