Question : Problem: several folders in same BAGMRU

Using a one year old HP d4000y, Win XP with SP2,

I am having a problem with the folder settings for the view (thumbnails, tiles, etc.) and for the type (documents, pictures, music, etc.) in Explorer.  Folders seemed to change their view and type on their own.

On researching this, I used Registry Monitor and regedit to see what BAGMRU contained the attributes for a folder, and then changed the view/type on that folder (using the Customize tab in Properties) and then went looking for any other folders that had also changed to that same view/type.  I do find that other folders also change.

Thru this I discovered that I have folders that share the same BAGMRU!!  So, if I make a change to one of the folders associated with that BAGMRU, all of the folders pointing to that same bag are also changed.  Some of these changes even affect my C: drive and folders like My Music, which otherwise do not have the Customize tab under the properties for that folder.

Am I supposed to have only one folder per BAGMRU?  How can I fix this, so that changes to one folder only affect that folder?

Answer : Problem: several folders in same BAGMRU

You can clean all your old BAGMRU folders from registry and then can set the folders settings so that windows can create the fresh folders for them :)

Your view settings or customizations for a folder are lost or incorrect

also, you can increse the number of folders for which windows remember the settings, by default its 400.

Increase Folder View Size Limit to 8000
