Question : Problem: Remote agent for xserve on backup Exec
Ok here's the thing, I have a Xserve mac server all working fine. I have put the Backup Exec 11d remote agent on the server to back this server up, this all seemed to install fine. But when I goto to my Windows 2003 server where Backup Exec 11d is install I can see the Xserve but when i click to connect the login box appears I have tried all logins that are there in the Mac but with no joy, I have read symantecs forum on this which well as you know is about as much use as a chocolate firegard but i did find there is a patch to install which I have on the desktop of the Mac but when i use the terminal to install the patch I need to be as the root so Imlogin to the root but I cant see the file to install.
Please please help this fustrated mac man.....:-)

Answer : Problem: Remote agent for xserve on backup Exec
The following should be in place before you install the Remote Agent: You must be a member of a group that has Admin privileges on the Macintosh computer at which you are installing the Remote Agent for Macintosh Systems. Access to a mounted CD-ROM drive. TCP/IP, which is used to communicate with the Macintosh computer computers, is required on the media server.
If the Backup Exec 8.x and 9.x Agent for Macintosh is installed on a Macintosh computer, and you are installing the Remote Agent on the same computer, you must disable the existing Backup Exec 8.x and 9.x Agent for Macintosh before installing the Remote Agent. Otherwise, the Remote Agent will not run properly after it is installed.
For more information on installing and configuring the agent refer to PAGE 959 of the ADMIN GUIDE http://ftp.support.veritas.com/pub/support/products/Backup_Exec_for_WindowsNT/285233.pdf
