Question : Problem: HP 8150 printer randomly out of alignment

Weird problem with an HP 8150 printer.  For several weeks, it has been randomly printing pages misaligned (too far to the right).  It will sometimes go for hours without misprinting, while other times it prints every page off center.  Even weirder, sometimes it is mixed, so that some are in line, some are not.  A report we recently printed of roughly 20 pages had about 4 pages off center and cutting off some of the text.  None of the pages were consecutive, but there didn't seem to be a regular pattern to it either.

We installed a maintanance kit in the printer, and the problem continued.  We also cleaned it less than a month ago.  Currently we are trying a different paper tray in the tray 3 position and leaving tray 2 out of the printer.  We don't really know of any other possible causes of this problem.

Does anyone know the cause of this?  Or possible solutions?

Thanks ahead of time,

Answer : Problem: HP 8150 printer randomly out of alignment

Sounds like a paper issue. Check the feed tires. Also open the right side door. There a two rollers about 5 inches apart on a shaft. Try and turn them by hand. They should turn in one direction but not the other. If they turn both ways even part of the time then you need the paper pickup assy.
