Question : Problem: Gateway BIOS problem

Greetings:
I am working with a Gateway 300S desktop - XP O/S - The BIOS boot sequence starts with 1st Boot Device, CD-ROM.  No matter how many times I change this to 1st: Floppy, 2nd: HDD 3rd CD-ROM, SAVE and Exit, when I reboot it will come back as the CD-ROM as the first boot device.  The Floppy and HDD assume the 2nd & 3rd boot drives.  I have even DISABLED the CD-ROM drive as a boot device.  It still comes back and finally, after rebooting the last time the HDD is no longer LISTED in the boot drives sequence!  But, when I boot up and get the black screen asking me to put in a boot media, I click on CTRL-ALT-DEL and it will then continue to start Windows.  Everything works fine.  Just that initial hangup asking for boot media for the CD-ROM drive.
