Question : Problem: corrupt master file table after raid repair! HELP!!! the file or directory $mft is corrupt and unreadable. please run chkdsk utility
there was a bad drive on my file server array yesterday
we replaced the hard drives, reactivated the disk, and then repaired the disk
when the repair was complete, we keep getting this message
THE FILE OR DIRECTORY H:\$MFT IS CORRUPT AND UNREADABLE. PLEASE RUN THE CHKDSK UTILITY
its not hardware raid, we did this all through disk management
any ideas? do you think the CHKDSK will repair this?
Answer : Problem: corrupt master file table after raid repair! HELP!!! the file or directory $mft is corrupt and unreadable. please run chkdsk utility
Yes Checkdisk will usually be able to rebuild the master file table. Be sure you hae a valid backup before you try this, but it normally repairs the error after a short check.
