Question : Problem: No permission to Update Server 2003 to SP2

Hello, i recently installed server 2003 on my server, and when i try to install the latest service pack, it tells me i do not have permission to install it. I am logged on as the administrator. I checked all the groups and made sue the administrator account is on all the ones that the SP needs access to. I am out of ideas. This also happens on some XP client desktops.

Ive tried both out of domain local admin, and on domain admin accounts..

Answer : Problem: No permission to Update Server 2003 to SP2

Use this manual to revert to default permissions. I saw that solve this very issue more than once. It would be wise to creat a security template of the current state first to have the ability to come back to it later on, if needed. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313222 - should apply to 2003, as well.
