Question : Problem: red lines and green dots in screen on system boot
|
|
Goodday all,
Yesterday we got a system from a customer with some screen problems.
Mobo: Asus P5B-E Videocard: NV 8800 GTX 768DDR3 PCI-E CPU: Intel E6600 System Memory: Dual Channel DDR2 / 4Gig (4x 1Gig Modules) Power: 550W
When i boot the pc it gives red short lines or sometimes green dots on the screen, even in the BIOS. When it comes into windows, the system hangs (sometimes even reboots while booting). At first i thought it was the powersupply, but in fact i think a 550w would be good enough.
Analysis: - removed all harddisks except boot disk - tested the 8800GTX videocard in an other system => works fine - upgraded bios to latest version - disabled some onboard devices to free some IRQ's - changed video cables/screen - removed and tested system memory - also tested with a 6200LE in the target system, this results in no red lines or green dots - disabled ACPI and PnP-OS detection
So it seems the motherbord <-> NV 8800GTX is the cause. Anyone some other ideas so the system could work with the 8800GTX card?
Grtz, Pieter

We've replaced the videocard and the problem is solved. Result is it was the videocard and not the psu afterall.
Thx for helping :)
