Question : Problem: Installing networked HP Photosmart 2575 Printer

I am trying to install a HP Photosmart 2575 Printer that is network connected to a XP Home computer. The software on the install disk does not work. Can this be done manually.

OK, try the folowing, that is if there is an IP Address assigned to the printer.

Goto Printers and Faxes
Sellect 'Add a printer'
Select 'local printer attached to this computer', uncheck 'Automatically detect and install'
Select Next
Select 'Create a new port'
In 'Type of port' select 'Standard TCP/IP Port
Select Next
Select Next
Enter the IP address as allocated to the printer.
Select Next
Select the printer from the list if it exists, if not then select the nearest to it
If you get the option 'have disc' then look for the directory that would have been made by the software you installed before.

Hope some or all of this gets the problem sorted.
