Question : Problem: play / use HDV 720p25 quicktime footage on mac or windows?

i need to transcode an HDV 720p25 encoded quicktime movie into another format.

At the moment I can't even play it on my mac (10.3.9)  or pc (win xp sp2).

I have quicktime pro which won't play it and I've tried several apps including MPEG Streamclip, Canopus Edius Neo, MainConcept Reference. ffmpeg, etc.

I read somewhere that Final Cut Pro is required to playback via quicktime.

Is there another app or codec that will at least play it?

Solution:

The solution is to find someone with FCP installed and use the HDv components as found in the "library/quicktime" directory.
