Question : Problem: HP 5610 All In One Printing Issue with Word
|
|
Many of my users have a personal ink jet printer. An HP 5610 All In One Multifunction Device. Also, all of our word 2003 documents have a cover page that has a background image on it. This background image takes up the entire page. Most of the image is white. So it just kind of looks like a header and a footer on the page. But everything in between is white.
Whenever users of the 5610's print a document with this cover page, it prints the whole page in black. I made the background image smaller when i was testing this and found that its printing that whole background image in black, (not the whole page).
Print preview looks fine and all other printers (like our network laserjets print it fine).
I am using the only driver available on HP's site and I could find no settings in the driver that resolved the problem.
I did find one setting in word that resolves the problem, however we can not use this setting as it makes the image too light and unreadable. I went into Settings on the image and checked "washed out". Then it prints fine, but its way too light.

I have determined that this is an issue with the way WORD prints to this driver. We are printing the document to a PDF writer and then printing the PDF and it works fine. HP does not have a driver update that resolves this. Only work arounds and changes to the actual document seem to resolve this.
