Question : Problem: raid5 adding new drive   size??

hi guys i have a windows server 2000 mounted in RAID5 (hardware) with 3 seagate 36Gig 10k rpm and i want to add another one but seagate seem to discontinue that drive and i will have to  choose from 73Gig 10K rpm or 36Gig 15k RPM.

my question is do i need to have same size drive ?
if no  would i be able to use all the 73Gig ?

do i need same speed drive ?

thanks

sly

Answer : Problem: raid5 adding new drive   size??

The drive needs to be the same size or bigger, it will only use 36gb of the 73 gb drive depending on the controller the extra space will either be non-usable or you can create a raid 0 on the extra space to make it usable. i don't suggest mixing drive speeds in the same array i have seen it cause issues in the past.
