Question : Problem: WEP encryption won't work on laptop wireless adapter

I have a built in wireless adapter on my laptop.

This works fine if I use no encryption but if I try to use WEP, the wireless connection doesn't automatically start when I reboot and I have to re-enter the SSID each time.

Any ideas what the issue might be?

I'm using Vista home premium on a HP Pavilion dv9000 laptop. The wireless adapter is an Atheros AR5007. All drivers are up to date.

Thanks,

rd707,

Vista will store all of your wireless network connections within the Network and Sharing Center. Right click the Network icon and click Properties, then click "Manage my Wireless Connections". Is your wireless network listed in here?
If not click "add" and enter your wireless info again and ensure to enter the correct security info, encryption type, and security passphrase. Once done, reboot and try it again.
