Question : Problem: SCANJET 6300C LAMP
|
|
I leave my computer on 24 hrs a day. The problem i have is the scanner lamp never seems to turn off... To my knowledge there isnt a on/off switch. Is there some sort of patch I can get to make the lamp shut off if not used for say 10 minutes. I don't want the lamp to burn out. I know HP has patches for some of their other scanners like the 4200C which will do this. Thanks

The other patches will not work for your brand scanner they have not made one yet for the hp 6300 model
here are the ways of resolving it the machine will auto turn off in 15 minutes if not used sometimes though it will stay on up to an hour... if you have already accessed the control panel and changed the setting in there
do the following
go to my computer open control pannel open scanner/camera open the 6300c click on PROPERTIES select LAMP on top choose ENERGY SAVE
If you have any other usb devices they may be keeping it active also since some usb ports share chipsets with the printer port and / or serial port a device on this may be keeping it on try turning off your printer...
If none of this resolves it then you can try the last two options
1. Completely uninstall the scanner reboot windows then hit ctrl, alt, delete end task everything except for explorer and systray then reinstall the scanner and adjust the lamp setting again in control panel
2. put the scanner into a powerstrip when not in use turn it off
3. You could also try turning off your anti virus software in the background by hitting ctrl, alt, delete and end tasking your anti virus sometimes this can keep things active
4. Go into your bios and turn off the powersaving mode
other then that there are no fixes Hp did make a lamp controller update for the 3300 model because of this problem they have no update yet though for the 6300 series
