Question : Problem: Citrix Slow after ISP switch to exact same Service (Bounded T1) - latency test passed

Dear Experts,
I am experiencing the following problem (Location NJ). I recently switch from a Bonded T1 (2xT1) with Verizon to a Bonded T1 (2xT1) with Covad.
Since I switched, all Citrix users from different locations across the country experiencing slow ICA connections. I tested the speed and the latency and had Covad test their router. Nothing could be seen what would point to the problem.
To rule out the server ... I connected the Verizon service back up which I still have and the problem disappeared right away. The users noticed an immediate improvement in performance.

I am at a loss her. Anyone who had a similar experience?

I almost have to stay with Verizon and pay their ridiculous T1 prices if I can't figure that one out. I can't risk the performance.

Thanks a lot.

Regards,

Tim

Answer : Problem: Citrix Slow after ISP switch to exact same Service (Bounded T1) - latency test passed

topofbest in your case you are probably overloading your siongle T-1.  In my experience, without any type of application acceleration devices you should expect to see response issues around the 30-60 user range.  Now with that said, much depends on what your users are doing in their Citrix sessions.  You need to take into account profile size, type and number of applications opened, what else teh T-q1 is used for, are users doing file copying especially of large files and so forth.

As for Tim, have Covad check duplex settings on teh routers.  Make sure theirs and yours match, ie both set to auto or 100 full for example.  mDuplex mismatch may also be a cause here.
