Question : Problem: Need to swap out cooling fan
I have a server that has a cooling fan that is going out - just a cheap 5$ part but need to know if I can swap it out without shutting the server down. The cooling fan has a 3 wire ((blk, red, yel) connection to the system board. Can I just pull that off and reconnect the new one or should I shut it down first. It is our AD server so I prefer not to shut it down.

yea you can do that, but I would do it VERY quickly. You don't want that processor to overheat or you will be replacing that as well.
