Question : Problem: Power Supply Heating up Case?
I was wondering if my power supply is designed and working correctly. It is a 250watt ATX, and this is what it powers: 2 IDE hard drives, DVD Rom, CD-RW Drive, Floppy drive, internal Tape back-up and a digital Heat Monitor controlling cpu fan, case fan and an intake fan. I ask this because the heat monitor says the case temp is about 115 degrees after about 5 hours and have noticed the power supply fan blows directly onto my CPU (Pent II 450mhz). I noticed the power supply fan on my other machine blows out the back and not into the case.

I don't know whether it was Intel's great idea, but most of the first power supplies that conformed to the first rev of the ATX stuff seemed to all have a fan mounted on the external side of the power supply and blew out, as these older systems come back in, I have been turning the fan around to blow thru the power supply, make sure you have a good working fan on your CPU. Whoever was the brain of this wasn't the sharpest pin in the cushion.
