Question : Problem: How can I stop my touchpad-as-mouse from clicking on its own?

My touchpad-as-mouse in my Acer TravelMate every now and then clicks on its own, with sometimes disastrous results. How can I correct this?

If it's a Synaptics touchpad (most are), just right-click on the touchpad driver and uncheck "Enable Tapping".    Otherwise, look in the Mouse Properties (in Control Panel) and find the equivalent setting (what you're referring to is called "tapping" ... you simply need to disable it).
