Question : Problem: A7N8X MB Can not see SATA drive. IDE ok.
|
|
Hi, have been running an AMD XP 2.8 on an A7N8X Asus board, with an SATA 120 as boot, and IDE 180 hdd as storage for past 4 months. A day ago my pc decided to reboot with no warning, and after that I could not get into XP Pro at all.. stopped at MUP.SYS.. or at the last file it loaded??
Spent hours trying, could see the data structure from the Repair Console, but that was all. Gave up and finally did a file repair from the XP disk, reloaded XP Pro.. no change, still died on bootup.
Switced drivers, loaded XP on the IDE, no problem.. but can no longer see the SATA drive. Tried loading drivers etc.. but no change.
Board? HDD? Any ideas would be great.

In that case, you are right, it is a motherboard problem with SATA drives. Check for motherboard BIOS update, OR try to use windows update which will identify your components and search in its database for a newer driver than what you have.
