Question : Problem: iMac Optical Drive Problem
I have an intel iMac and recently had a problem with the discs not loading in the optical drive. I am out of warranty as to wanting to fix it myself, and I am wondering if I replace the optical drive is that likely to fix it, or is this something possibly larger going on inside? I am trying to spend as little as possible to trouble shoot in a prioritized based way, and try one thing at a time.
Thanks!
Answer : Problem: iMac Optical Drive Problem
First try resetting the PRAM by doing a cold boot while holding down the command-option-p-r key combination until you hear the startup chime a third time.
You could also try blowing out the CD bay using a can of compressed air or by a cleaning disk.
