Question : Problem: Inspiron 6000 no video -barely
Inspiron 6000 with extremely dim video. When first booting, logo appears birghtly for approx. 1 second and it is hazed with red over top. Then once it is gone, laptop proceeds to boot and functions great(if you have external monitor) but video cannot be seen through laptop lcd. You can clearly view desktop via external monitor. Swapped entire display with other inspiron 6000 and video is fine.
What part do I need from Dell, is it the connecting cable or the entire display? If it is the cable...how the heck do I get it replaced without breaking the display?

No the CCFL's are actual fluorescent tubes which are placed along the top and bottom edges of the LCD. These can be very hard to replace as they are fragile(long thin glass tubes) and placed in a hard to get at place. The board on the back is the lcd controller board. The 6000 uses a magnetic switch buried in the body of the laptop so there is no pin. Its located below the left touch pad button, try tapping on that area to see if you can release the switch if it is sticking.
