Question : Problem: HP iPAQ H4150 - Sync the PDA with Outlook

One of my customer has a HP iPaq H4150 with almost 2000+ contacts, he never really sync this with a PC except for the first year which is almost 5 years ago, now comes the time he need to copy the contacts list and injects them into his new Blackberry, is there an idiots guide to do this in a safe and secure manner, the last thing I need is when sync with a new Outlook it wipes out the PDA's contacts list.

well activesync SHOULD work without a problem for you


However better safe than sorry download http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705 on your windows mobile first and backup to an sd-card or anything and keep it in a safe place

then initiate your partnership using active sync

If all goes well you are lucky but in case of problems

1) hard reset your device
2) delete the partnership
3) create a new outlook profile
4) setup a new partnership and sync (yes both empty)
5) restore the contacts from the backup taken earlier
6) sync again
