Question : Problem: nv4disp.dll error with BSOD and lines across the screen

Hey Experts!!
I have a problem with a client that is confusing me.  I have read about the nv4disp.dll error but the only two things that I can really see is a driver or PSU problem.  I have attached a screen shot of what she sent me and I have never seen anything like that.  It then continues to display those funky lines even after reboot.  She has to completely shut her computer off for about an hour or so and then turn it back on.
She doesn't do anything that is graphic intensive.  Basically uses it for MS Word, Internet and accounting.  This is a premade Gateway system from about 3~4 years ago with a P4 and 1GB of PC4000 RAM.  That's all I know about the system right now, I can update later (and probably will).

Anyone have any suggestions??????

Answer : Problem: nv4disp.dll error with BSOD and lines across the screen

If she's been leaving it on, dust is likely to be accumulating.  The time for the problem to show up seems to be a function of heat buildup.

She's probably referring to Windows updates, which install themselves right before shutdown.  She doesn't need to do it this way, but it is less intrusive to apply updates right before shutdown.
